Le Porte Del Paradiso, This 12 movement, concert length work is a tour-de-force for all performers. Based upon the Gates Of Paradise in Florence Italy, sculpted by Lorenzo Ghiberti in the 1400's, this piece is a collage of choral, instrumental and narrative power. Absolutely thrilling from beginning to end. Movements include: In The Beginning, Cain Lies To God, Noah Leaves the Ark, The Conquest of Jericho, David Challenges Goliath, Sarah At The Tent, Jacob Steals Esau's Birthright, Moses Receives The Ten Commandments from God, A Great Deliverance, and King Solomon Welcomes the Queen of Sheba at Court. The featured soloist was Nancy Ambrose King, well known concert oboist and Professor of Oboe at the University of Michigan and Vice President of the International Double Reed Society. Ballad of Siobhan ni Laoghaire (She-VAHN nee Leary) Haunting ancient Celtic melody recast for bells, 3-5 octaves and optional 3 oct. chimes. Level 3+CM
Be Thou My Vision: one of the most well-loved hymns in the world, often this tune is sweet. This arrangement is all about POWER, with fabulous harmonies underneath the familiar tune. Opening deceptively calm, each verse gets progressively more dramatic. The climactic section uses descending triplet lines between big bass chords and doubled treble lines. Level VCM
Contemplation on Ubi Caritas, Lovely meditative work based on Gregorian chant. For 3-5 octave handbells, about 5 minutes in length. Level 3+AG
Fantasy on Trust and Obey, A sweet treatment of a well-loved old hymn. 3-5 octaves. Level 3AG
Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity: for 5-7 octaves of bells and 3-5 octaves of optional chimes: very closely based upon the Elgar orchestral piece, with much more thematic material than just the famous Thaxton hymn tune. This is a tour-de-force of virtuosity and drama, idiomatic for bells and very fun to play. 210 measures, Level V+CM
Sarah At The Tent: derived from the movement from Le Porte del Paradiso. This opens with a haunting e minor melody, echoed in all octaves, and proceeds to a gentle waltz in the middle. Lovely and gentle. Level IVCM

For Hope: One movement portrait for bass clarinet and piano in three connected sections. Driving and rhythmic, and full of soaring melody. Lots of 5/8 and 3/4 alternating measures. Range is conservative, but broad. Piano is an equal partner. No gratuitious showy stuff, but a great piece if you're looking for something you can sink your teeth into and still show off. About 6½ minutes.CM
On A Snowy Evening: for soprano saxophone, horn and piano. Adapted from the beautiful setting for SATB of Stopping By Woods, On A Snowy Evening is a 5 minute meditation. Advanced level.CM

Pragmatic Duo: Violin duet in three short movements inspired by the book "Plato and the Platypus Walk Into a Bar", with philosophical tongue-in-cheek titles based on principles discussed: Essentialism, Plato's Virtue and Zeno's Paradox. Violin 2 part has two additional options: guitar chords in movement 1, and a spoken part (a joke) to go along with playing, in movement 2.
